Why Use Ductless HVAC In Your Home

Posted on: 19 November 2019

There are many types of HVAC systems available, which can cause you to think closely about what will work best for your home. One of the systems doesn't require any ductwork, and it is known as a mini-split HVAC system. Here are some reasons why you may want to use a mini-split system for your home.

You Do Not Have Existing Ductwork

The main reason to use a mini-split HVAC system is if your home doesn't have existing ductwork. If the home was not built with a traditional furnace or air conditioner in mind, it is possible that ductwork was never placed in the home. This makes it much more difficult to add an HVAC system to your home later on. While you can install portable units, such as a window air conditioner, they are not ideal as long-term solutions. A ductless mini-split system can provide heating and cooling, and it can be placed in rooms that need help the most.

You Need Supplemental Heating and Cooling

Even if you have heating and cooling running to a room with a central HVAC system, it's possible that the room is lacking the hot and cold air that it needs. This can be caused by ductwork that was installed incorrectly, or if the room in question is at the very end of your ductwork and is not getting air at the same force as rooms closer to the blower motor. This will lead to you needing to supplement the heating and cooling for a specific room. A mini-split system can be installed in any room of your home, even one that has another heating and cooling system running to it.

You Have A Home Addition

Your home may have been built with ductwork originally, but creating an addition to your home will complicate the HVAC system. It may be impossible to get ductwork to the new addition due to its location. You will benefit from installing a ductless system for just the new addition that was built. You can add heating and cooling to a room without having to include ductwork and a second furnace and air conditioner to make the room feel comfortable.

Think you need a ductless HVAC system for your home? Reach out to an HVAC technician in the area for assistance. They'll handle the selection of the unit and the installation for you, so you won't have to do anything.
